Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zoning Act

California law prohibiting construction of structures for human occupancy across the trace of an active fault.

It establishes earthquake fault zones and requires fault investigations for covered development, subject to statutory exemptions. An earthquake fault zone is one of the six categories reported on the Natural Hazard Disclosure Statement.
