Truth in Lending Act (TILA)
The federal credit-disclosure law requiring standardized disclosure of consumer credit costs and terms.
Also called: Regulation Z
Regulation Z implements TILA. It governs measures such as the annual percentage rate and finance charge, and it includes advertising and mortgage rules. TILA is about credit cost and terms; RESPA is centered on settlement practices, servicing, and prohibited referral payments.
