Unlicensed assistant
A support worker who may perform clerical and administrative tasks but may not perform acts that require a real estate license.
An unlicensed assistant can schedule appointments, assemble documents, and handle other directed clerical work. The person cannot solicit prospects, show property independently, explain contracts, recommend terms, or negotiate. The exam focuses on the conduct, not the job title or whether a licensee is nearby.
Test the distinction
A relevant question from Practice and Disclosures, selected because its facts or explanation use this concept.
Which task may an unlicensed assistant lawfully perform?
Written to DRE's published topic list. Not a real examination question, since reproducing those is a misdemeanor under B&P Code section 123.
