Vesting

The manner in which a person or entity holds title to real property.

Vesting affects ownership shares, survivorship, transfer rights, creditor issues, probate, and tax consequences. Common forms include ownership in severalty, tenancy in common, joint tenancy, community property, community property with right of survivorship, trusts, and entity ownership.
