EXCEPT and NOT
Restate a negative stem as 'Which option does not meet the rule?' Mark each option true or false against the same rule, then choose the exception. Do not choose a familiar true statement when the stem asks for the false one.
LEAST, BEST and MOST accurate
These words compare alternatives under the supplied facts. More than one option may contain a true statement; identify which one answers the precise question most fully. Avoid adding facts or choosing an absolute when the rule has exceptions.
A short check before submission
- Circle the task word.
- Identify the person, property, dates and jurisdiction.
- State the controlling rule before comparing options.
- For math, calculate before studying the alternatives.
- After grading, explain why each tempting alternative fails.
